ATTENTION
Some of the pictures and stories shown on the following pages may be disturbing. In many of these cases, the stories are tragic. People have been seriously injured and in some instances, killed. Those involved frequently have suffered very significant, sometimes permanent injuries. The patients, their families, and their friends have all suffered
as a result of these events.

We often receive calls from patients or their families asking us about what happened during an incident. The following photos and stories are provided, similar to a newspaper account, for educational and informational purposes. It is our hope that through education, tragic incidents such as these can be prevented.

Every RVFD member that responded to these calls send their thoughts and condolences
to everyone touched by these incidents.

Thu. Aug 27th 2009

Commercial Working Structure in Short Gap !

On Thursday August 27th at approximately 0015 Hrs the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Department responded mutual aid to the Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department for a Commercial Working Fire on Route 28 at the Auction House. Upon arrival Chief 34 advised of a working fire. Engine 25-13 and Engine 25-11 responded on the working assignment. Once on-scene the crews from both engines assisted with extinguishment and overhaul. Engine 25-13 was also utilized as the air unit on the call. Command placed both units in service around 02:30

Engine requested to Cumberland !

On Saturday August 8th at 0903 Hrs the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for a working apartment fire in Cumberland, MD. Engine 25-13 responded under the direction of Chief Chris Detrick. The engine went on scene and was eventually transferred to Cumberland's Central Station for standby. Engine 25-13 responded with 6 volunteers.


Fri. Aug 7th 2009

Engine runs to Allegeny County !

On Friday August 7th at approximately 1100 Hrs the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Department was alerted for their second house fire in 2 hours at 13811 Louella Ave in District 16's first due. Engine 25-13 went enroute and was told to hold their engine in station due to the fire being out. Engine 25-13 stood by for approximately 30 minutes before being placed in service.


Thu. July 9th 2009

Engine transfer to Corriganville !

On Thursday July 9th 2009 just before midnight the Ridgeley Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to transfer an engine to Allegany County Station 8 who was currently out on a Commercial Working Fire in Corriganville, MD. Engine 25-13 responded with 6 volunteers.

Wed. May 27th 2009

Box 8-2 working structure in Allegeny County !

On Wednesday May 27th at 1419 Hrs Allegany County communications dispatched the working fire assignment Box 8-2 at 13810 Hazmat Drive (Howell Trucking). Engine 25-13 responded on the working assignment under the direction of Captain Bobby Glantzer. Due to a quick knockdown by a crew from the Cumberland Fire Department that was just up the street at the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute Engine 25-13 staged at Co.8's Station. Units returned in service at approximately 15:30.
